About Ora Asbestos Management

Trusted. Experienced. Compliant.

Over 10 years of asbestos management across residential, commercial, and historic properties.

About Ora Asbestos Management

Ora Asbestos Management Ltd is a family-run asbestos surveying, consultancy and removal company based in Great Wakering, near Southend-on-Sea in Essex.

We provide management surveys, refurbishment and demolition (R&D) surveys, asbestos testing, air monitoring and non-licensed asbestos removal for homes, landlords and commercial sites across Essex, London and the South East — all in line with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012).

Our story

Ora was founded in 2023 by Gordon Ringland, with one clear aim: to offer something many asbestos companies cannot — the full journey from survey to removal, handled by one trusted team. Rather than passing clients between a surveyor, a separate lab and a third removal contractor, we manage each job from the first inspection through to safe completion.

Being family-run shapes how we work. Clients deal with people who know their property and their trade, not a call centre. We take care of the building we are working in, keep disruption to a minimum, and explain every step in plain language — because most people who call us are worried about cost, safety or the law, and want a straight answer.

Meet Gordon Ringland — founder & principal surveyor

Gordon Ringland

Gordon Ringland is the founder, Director and principal asbestos surveyor at Ora. He holds the BOHS P402 qualification — the recognised industry standard for surveying and sampling strategies for asbestos in buildings — awarded by the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) Faculty of Occupational Hygiene (Certificate No. 20140911-32845-4254).

Gordon has over 12 years of hands-on experience in the asbestos industry, built on more than 20 years working in roofing. He carries out all three main survey types — management surveys, R&D surveys and re-inspections — and designs the sampling strategies used to find asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). He also leads non-licensed asbestos removal projects.

His work spans the full range of buildings, from residential garages and family homes to large commercial sites. Gordon has particular experience in heritage and museum environments, including listed buildings, where careful, fully compliant work matters most. He oversees Ora’s survey work and is the named author of our asbestos guides.

How we work

Three words guide every job: trusted, experienced and reliable. In practice that means accurate work, clear advice and honest scope — we are open about the difference between licensed and non-licensed asbestos work, and we never overstate what we can do. Survey reports are peer-reviewed before they are issued, so clients can rely on what they receive.

Accreditations & compliance

Ora is SafeContractor accredited and SSIP-recognised, demonstrating audited compliance with UK health-and-safety standards for the work we undertake. Our surveys and management advice follow CAR 2012 and the Approved Code of Practice L143 (ACoP L143).
